

Patricia M. Cox, 96, of Machesney Park, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Alden Debes Nursing Home. Patricia was born on February 25, 1928, in Rockford to Ray and Stella Plantz. She graduated from Rockford East High School in 1946. On June 27, 1948, Patricia married the love of her life, George Cox, at Bethany Presbyterian Church of Loves Park. Patricia became a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church when she was baptized there in July 1948. She was proud to help George with his business by maintaining his records and bookkeeping.
In her younger years, she had a special interest for horses, and riding them at local stables. Patricia also loved to go bowling whenever she had the chance, particularly at Park Lanes or Forest Hills Lanes, she was a member of multiple bowling leagues. In her downtime, Patricia enjoyed a good book, especially mysteries. She was also always in the mood to solve a crossword puzzle. When the weather was cooperative, you could find her outside doing yardwork. In the summer months, Patricia loved to cheer on the Chicago Cubs. Above all else, Patricia loved spending time with her children, and played an important role as their mother and their best friend.
Patricia is survived by her children, Lynn Cox and Nancy (Brian) Wigton; grandson, Nicholas Jury; cousin, Chris Good; niece, Judy Timpe; nephew, Rick (Carol) Plantz.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George Cox; brother, Robert (Ruby) Plantz.
A visitation for Patricia is scheduled for Monday, December 30, 2024, at 10:00 AM, taking place at Bethany Presbyterian Church, 5403 North 2nd Street, Loves Park, Illinois 61111, until the time of her funeral at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest next to her husband George at Sunset Memorial Gardens privately.
