Robert was born on February 7, 1930 in Pana, IL, the son of Frank and Etta Godden Kiefling. Robert married Iantha Belle Thompson on December 29, 1961 in Belvidere, IL. and Iantha preceded Robert in death on May 4, 2008. Robert was a member of North Park Covenant Church for many years. He was employed for over 20 years as a machinist at Camcar. Robert loved fishing, hunting and most of all spending time at his farm in Missouri with family and friends.
Robert is survived by his 3 children: Kelli (Troy) Boyer, Jane (Doug) Bennett and Mike Thompson; 5 grandchildren Megan Boyer, Alecia (Jeff) Jones, Rick (Allaine) Gibson, Shelly (Joe) Ruggiero and Melissa (Terry) Adkins; six great-grandchildren.
Robert was also preceded in death by his parents, daughter Barbara Lundquist and numerous siblings.
A service to celebrate Robert’s life will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday March 12, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N. Alpine Road in Machesney Park with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
