Ronald Swan

Ronald Levi Swan, 88, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, January 11, 2022 after a lingering illness. He was born October 31, 1933 in Paxton, IL, the son of Albert and Mabel (Patton) Swan. Ron enlisted in the United States Marine Corp on December 3, 1952; he finished boot camp and married his sweetheart, Deloris Smith on August 8, 1954. He worked as a machinist at Barber-Colman for 39 years. Ron enjoyed fishing, camping and woodworking. He had an amazing green thumb. Ron was an extremely supportive husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Ron is loved and missed by his loving wife of 67 years, Deloris; children, Cyndi Skidmore, Mike (Cindy) Swan, Albert Swan and Sherri (Dane) Resh; grandchildren, Dan (Amanda) Skidmore, Ron (Meghan) Skidmore, Stephanie Skidmore and Sarah (Eric) Swan Jacobson; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Noah, Grant and Ian Skidmore, Darren and Owen King, and Brady and Bria Jacobson. He was preceded in death by his parents, and son-in-law, Emmett Skidmore.

A private family service will take place at Sunset Funeral Home. Inurnment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
