Roy E. Talkington, 88, of Rockford, died on Saturday, November 20, 2010 in Provena Cor Mariae Center. Born March 29, 1922 in Folsom, WV the son of Robert and Carrie (Price) Talkington. He met and married the late Maureen Talkington in Ireland on August 29, 1945. Proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during WWII. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and received 2 bronze stars and a purple heart. Survivors include his three sons, Phillip, Jim and Tom; four grandchildren, Eve, Erin, Eamonn and Maureen; five great-grandchildren; Jonathan, Christian, Elizabeth, Kevin and Makayla.Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 in Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park. Visitation will be from 1-2 pm before the service. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family.
