

Ruby Oskins, 91, of Rockford, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2017. Born December 22, 1925 in Rockford, IL. Daughter of Knut and Karin (Johnson) Berglund. Graduate of East High School in 1943 and then from Rockford Memorial Nursing School in 1947. United in marriage to Charles Oskins on February 3, 1950. He predeceased her on August 12, 2005. Ruby worked as a nurse until about the age of 70. A few of her places of employment were Swedish American in the Pediatrics, Rockford Memorial in the Emergency Room, Walter Lawson’s Childrens Home and the office of Dr. Robert E. Heerens. Even after her career of nursing ended she was a caregiver for her husband Charles until his passing. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She especially enjoyed her many visits and outings with her granddaughter Kim in the later years.
Survived by her children, Julie (Steve) Price of Florida, Jeffrey Oskins of Rockford, Gregory Oskins of Rockton; granddaughter, Kim (Josh) Soldin of Loves Park; grandsons, Brent (Kelly) Anderson of Loves Park, Sean (Angela) Anderson of South Beloit; great-grandchildren, Jakob and Makenna Anderson, Owen and Bailey Anderson, Donovan, Dominic, Dino and Daviana Soldin; special friend, Georgia Klarman. Predeceased by her parents; brother, Roland Berglund; son-in-law, Terry Anderson; husband, Charles Oskins. Special thanks to the caregivers at River Bluff Nursing Home and Mercy Health Hospice.
Per Ruby’s wishes cremation rites were accorded. Private Family Memorial Service was held.
