Steve was born on May 20, 1958 in Rockford, the son of Thomas and Jeanne (Atkinson) McLaughlin. Steve was a huge supporter of local bands, he loved his pets, collecting memorabilia such as trains, Mickey Mouse, match box cars and he loved his Mountain Dew. Steve was a member of the Lombardi Club and loved spending time with all his friends.
Steve is survived by his brothers: Dan McLaughlin, Bill McLaughlin and Rich McLaughlin; sister Lori McLaughlin; nieces and nephews: Kristi, Tommy, Andrew, Ryan, Brad, Kelly and Ian; god-daughter Aimee Nicole Anderson; uncle Bob (Shirley) McLaughlin; numerous cousins and countless friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation to honor Steve’s life will be Friday March 31, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N. Alpine Road in Machesney Park from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. A Celebration of Life service for Steve will be from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm Saturday April 1, 2017 at the Lombardi Club 209 Olive Street in Rockford.
