Thomas A Rohrer, age 84, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2025. He was born December 16, 1940 in Adrian, Michigan to Marvin and Elizabeth (Bocken) Rohrer. Thomas was very proud of his service in the Air Force. He worked for many years as the fire chief at the Chrysler plant. He married the love of his life, Rose Rohrer, in 1961 and they spent 43 wonderful years together before she passed in 2005.
Thomas enjoyed being outdoors, he liked to hunt and fish, especially at the A-frame with his brothers. He liked to play golf with friends and family. Thomas coached youth baseball for over 25 years. He also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and watching Michigan football (Go Blue!). Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Michael Rohrer and Julie (Carl) Ellis; stepson, Andrew Bowman; daughter-in-law, Rocio Rohrer; grandchildren, Nicholas Rohrer, Brian Rohrer, Tere Rohrer, Erik (Maria) Rohrer, Breanna (Zack) Rohrer, Brooke (Philip) Thompson, Breah (Trystan) Boothe, and Dustin Bowman; great-grandchildren, Keian, Kylen, Kohen, Lyric, Ryker, Audrina, Lucy, Delilah, Braelynn, Laylah, and Maverick; siblings, Susan (Jim) Manges, Mel (Donna) Rohrer, Roger (Connie) Rohrer, Bob (Kathy) Rohrer, Debra Yaun, and Carol Rohrer; special friend and more, Patricia Rohrer; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Rohrer; son, Brian Rohrer; step-children, Daryl Bowman and Cindy Barnes; parents, Marvin and Elizabeth Rohrer; siblings, Marilyn Rohrer, Jan (Harvey) Donaldson, Linda Kromah, and Marvin “Mick” Rohrer; and brothers-in-law, Richard Numbers and Roger Yaun.
The family would like to thank the staff at Mo Cara Hospice for their wonderful compassion and care of Thomas.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of Patricia Rohrer.
A private service for Thomas will be held at Sunset Funeral Home. Military honors to follow.
