Vincenza Virginia Leggio

Virginia was born on May 14, 1921 in Rockford, IL the daughter of Vito and Paolina Cascio Cacioppo. Virginia married Gaspare Leggio on February 4, 1944 in Sambuca Di Sicilia, Sicily and he preceded her in death on April 26, 2007. Virginia was a professional seamstress for men’s and women’s clothing and received many awards. She loved to garden and her favorite time was cooking her grandchildren their favorite foods. Virginia was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church and formerly attended St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Virginia is survived by her daughter Rose Mary Sandahl; her three grandchildren Joey, Eric and Leandra.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family to be used later for a memorial in Virginia’s name.

A mass to celebrate Virginia’s life will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday April 11, 2013 at St. Rita Catholic Church with Father David Peck as celebrant. Visitation will be Wednesday April 10, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N. Alpine Road Machesney Park, IL. Entombment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
