

Wayne was born June 14, 1932 to Gladys Love and Marshall Linquist in Rockford, Illinois. He attended Lincoln Park Elementary School, Washington Middle School and Rockford West High School, class of 1950.
Wayne was in the United States Air Force from 1951-1956 and was stationed in Germany and France as a supply sergeant.
He was employed at Greenlee Tool Co. for 35 years, first in the workshop and then promoted to sales and research and development. Wayne held many patents for inventing many industrial tools for the electrician’s trade including the slug –buster and many other time saving tools.
Wayne was an active member of the Model A Club of Rockford and enjoyed taking out his cars to parades around the Rockford and surrounding areas. He was also a member of the Tebala Shriners as a Marshalls Aid and the Lombardi Club of Rockford.
Wayne was a proud member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants and the Pilgrim Edward Doty Society. He was an 11th generation descendant of Mayflower Passenger Edward Doty, signer of the Mayflower Compact.
He was an avid woodworker, played golf in his younger years and a big fan of the Chicago Bears and the Cubs but his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his grandchildren and great-granddaughters.
Wayne is survived by his beloved wife of 11-1/2 years, Bernice; brother Dwight Linquist (Kay); five children: Alan Linquist (Joan), Diane Lake (Rodney), Sandra Linquist, Patricia Vodick (Robert) and John Linquist (Sandi); 6 grandchildren Kelly, Eric, Emma, Veronica, Bridgett and Piper and 2 great granddaughters Addison and Alyssa; step children: Kim Selgren (Roger) and Brian Selgren (Jan); step-grandchildren Nick and Andrew.
Predeceased by parents Marshall and Gladys Linquist; mother of his children, Jeannette and step-son Christopher Eddy.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Shiners Crippled Children’s Hospital.
Memorial service to celebrate Wayne’s life will be 12:00 pm Monday October 24, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N. Alpine Road in Machesney Park. Visitation for Wayne will be from 10:00 am until service time on Monday at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded and inurnment will be private.
