Wayne "Pep" M. McDaniel

Wayne "Pep" M. McDaniel, age 79, of Machesney Park, Illinois joined his Valentine, Vicki, in Heaven on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. Pep was born in Rockford, Illinois on May 11, 1944 to George and Verna McDaniel. He graduated from Rockford West High School in 1962. Shortly after graduating he met the love of his life, Vicki Rinaldi. On August 15, 1964 he married Vicki; they spent 37 beautiful years together until Vicki's passing in 2002. Pep was a proud member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 219. He worked at Larson Sheet Metal for over 40 years until retiring at the age of 59. He was a devoted parishioner of St. Bridget Catholic Church where he served the church as an usher for many years. Pep was a die hard Cubs and Bears fan. He was an avid golfer with the rare achievement of not only one hole in one but two! His favorite moments were spending time with his girls and their families until he got the vacuum cleaner out. Gardening, horseshoes and beer were a couple of other hobbies he enjoyed.

Pep is survived by his daughters, Cammi (Jim) Fosse, Michelle (Greg) Hamil, Keli (Steve) Cloyd, and Heather (Tod) Vrolyk; grandchildren, Nick (Bethany), Angella (Cory), Logan (Teresa), Ashley, Anna (Steve), Jonathan, Noah, Cameron H., Kierra, Matthew (Allix), Cameron C., Hailey, and Trevor; great grandchildren, Kiley, Kayden, Mayleigh, Gabby, Hudson, Kaiden, Tanner, Cole, Jax, Jordy, Victor, Levi, Stevie, Zach, Kennadie, Katie, and Gracie; mother-in-law, Frances Rinaldi; sister-in-law, Ginger (Jerry) Bartscher; brother-in-laws, Dennis (Patrice) Rinaldi and Alex Toth; girlfriend of 10 years, Joan Buttacavoli; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vicki McDaniel; parents, George and Verna McDaniel; father-in-law, Victor Rinaldi; siblings, Anna Meyers, Carl "Bud" Marine, George "Chip" McDaniel, Marion McDaniel, Mildred Schiro, Charles McDaniel, and Wanda Toth; brother-in-law, David Rinaldi; granddaughter-in-law, Wendy Fry.

A visitation will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024 from 9am until the time of the funeral service at 11am at Sunset Funeral Home (8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115). Interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Samantha RN, Kayla RN, Brad RN, Kenzie RN, Lonnie CNA, Valerie RN, and the entire OSF Staff. The family would also like to recognize Pep's golfing friends and Buddy Burger Buddies.
