

William (Bill) Calacci, 90, of Rockford, was called to home to be with the Lord on October 10, 2015, at Saint Anne Center. He was born January 30, 1925, in Rockford, IL, son of Alphonso Harry and Ida (Pompeo) Calacci. He married Stella Jackson on March 17, 1951, in Rockford.
Bill graduated from East High School in 1942. He attended Northern Illinois University for one year before serving in World War 11 as an army medic for 3 years. Bill re-entered NIU in 1946 where he completed his teaching degree. He started his career as a teacher at Turner and P.A. Peterson between 1948-1967. That same year Bill became one of the first Italian principals in Rockford at P.A. Peterson before being transferred to Whitehead in 1975 where he stayed until he retired in 1984. His loves were spending time with family, playing golf, and building things with his hands.
Survivors include daughter, Pam (Dennis) Boyer; son, John Calacci; granddaughters, Marissa (Erik) Draney and Krista (Myles) Scott; sister, Nina Randall and many beloved nieces and nephews. Predeceased by; parents, wife, brothers, sister.
Funeral Service at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 15, at First Evangelical Free Church, 2223 N. Mulford Rd. Rockford, Il. Visitation 11 a.m. to the time of service. Pastor Chuck Rife officiating.
