Billy you brighten up any room you were in!  This cruise was just a blast we are so thankful we have these memories!

DE's comment is right on!I had tears in my eyes reading it,but I had a smile on my face!I too loved Billy like a brother,and I had six others,all of whom Billy met in the few years he was down here,as his uncle Dennis & aunt Pat lived in my neighborhood. I would like to think I was Billy's closest friend down here in the short time he was here,but I could be mistaken because he had many.I never had a friend  so easy to like and with a zest for life as Billy!He was a great softball player and we played on the best teams in the county,and nothing got by us in the middle of the outfield unless it was over the fence!Billy was fast and usually our leadoff hitter! I was upset when he had to move back north to get further medical attention for his leg,but I`m glad he did.It was where he belonged.I know he was a great son , husband,father,stepfather,nephew,brother,and grandpa to 16. WOW!We were all fortunate to know him,and I know he loved us all! Love and Godspeed to all of you!

I was honored when Billy asked me to drive his granddaughter Tulua in the homecoming parade. Billy quickly went with the flow with the kids, turning the music up and putting on the tunes that they like. Eventually, Billy decided to put our type of music on. We all got a good laugh because we were tired of hearing that other type of music.

Billy Fox was my brother in every way but blood since 1966. 

From our early days playing baseball, to those grey Saturday afternoons years later bleeding on gridirons stretching from Milledgeville to Durand – Billy’s spirit shone as brightly as his competitive fire. 

He was fast as the wind and a fierce athlete. No challenge ever stopped him. In 1978 he came off a near deathbed condition to have his greatest day on a football field only scant days later!

Shortly after high school, when fate dealt him a cruel blow and he tragically lost his leg, many in his situation might have faltered. 

But not my friend Billy. 

With relentless determination, he continued to live life on his own terms—golfing, playing softball, and always showing us that adversity is no match for true grit. 

Beyond the sports arena, Billy was a drinking buddy, a romantic rival, and my shotgun partner in countless knuckleheaded adventures—cutting class, getting into trouble, and pulling pranks that still bring a smile to my face. 

I am forever grateful to have seen him one last time at our 45th high school reunion—a bittersweet reminder of all the good times we shared and how much more we wished for.

At an age in which he should have enjoyed the fruits of his life, his passing leaves a void that words cannot describe. 

Yet I take comfort in knowing that old number 22 is now up on that great big ball diamond in the sky, roaming the outfield on two good legs alongside old friends and eternal teammates like Mick, Joe, and the rest. 

His strength and resilience, his refusal to ever give up or back down from a challenge, will forever be a beacon for us all—a reminder to spit in the eye of adversity just as he did.

Rest in peace, Brother. 

You were a man in every sense of the word. 

Your legacy of courage, determination, and unstoppable spirit will live on in every heart you touched.

Save me a spot on the roster up there old buddy. I'll be along directly.
