He was born in Colby, WI on June 19, 1936 he worked for 35 years at Rockford Power Train. Bill served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam conflict, he was an avid bowler, and a huge Green Bay Packer fan. He loved traveling, camping and snowmobiling as well as playing cards and Friday night fish dinners at several local restaurants.
He is survived by his wife Leatrice, whom he married on Valentine’s day in 1976, his children; Christine(Rick) Wheeler (Oklahoma), Pam (John) Wrieth (Ohio) Patti Goodwin (Rockford), Cathy (Terry Richards) Schorer (Rockford), Bill (Janet) Schorer (Rockford), his step-children; Cathy (Tim) Firm (Loves Park, Eddie (Julie) Thompson (Anna, IL), Roger (Theresa) Thompson (Rockford) and Mike Thompson (St. Louis), 23 Grandchildren, 20 Great-Grandchildren, his sisters; Grace (William) Knowles (Arizona) and Joyce Ohlinger (Wisconsin) and special friend Beverly Kortner.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 6 sisters, 1 brother, step-sons; David Thompson and Donnie Thompson.
Visitation will be from 10:00a.m. until time of service at 12:00p.m. on Monday October 1,2012 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N .Alpine Rd. Machesney Park, IL. Rev. Tim Firm will officiate services. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Machesney Park, following services. His grandsons; Michael Schorer, Shawn Goodwin, Steve Schorer, Brent Adams, Nick Onley, Jacob Onley, Matt Holder and Anthony Goodwin will serve as pallbearers.
