

Abbie Phillips Davis passed away January 15, 2015. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, 746 Cherry Street, Macon, Georgia. Graveside service will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery, conducted by Dr.Mark Hudgins. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Ingleside Baptist Church, 737 Wimbish Road, Macon GA 31204.
Abbie was born March 17, 1914, in Soperton, Georgia. After graduating from high school in Soperton, she graduated with Honors from Middle Georgia Hospital School of Nursing in Macon, Georgia. She served as a Registered Nurse at Middle Georgia Hospital.
Abbie and M. DuQuince Davis were married June 25, 1938, and were blessed with two sons, M. DuQuince Davis, Jr. and David Phillips Davis. After DuQuince’s passing, Abbie continued in her home on Belvedere Drive until 2006, when she became a resident at Western North Carolina Baptist Home in Asheville, NC. Abbie was an active member of the First Baptist Church, and later of Ingleside Baptist Church. She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and the DAR, and a frequent volunteer at the Sidney Lanier Visitors’ Center.
Abbie was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, M. DuQuince Davis, her parents Andrew Jackson Phillips and Ada Collins Phillips, brothers, Graham and A. J. Phillips, sisters, Arlis McClure, Clyde Smith, Sabra Gay, and Arver Phillips. She is survived by her son M. DuQuince Davis (Celia) of Clearwater, FL, grandson, Wayne Patrick Davis (Dawn) of Atlanta, GA, granddaughter, Alicia Adams Davis (Steven Ellis) of Germantown, NY, and great-grandsons, Jacob and Samuel Ellis. She is also survived by her son, David Phillips Davis (Janna) of Asheville, NC, grandson, Taylor Phillips Davis (Kristin) of New Paltz, NY, and great-granddaughters, Lakely Belle and Jolie Heart Davis, and many nieces and nephews.
