B. Wood Hiers

MACON – B. Woody Hiers, 83, passed away Saturday, September 18, 2010. Memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Vineville United Methodist Church, 2045 Vineville Avenue, Macon 31204.

Mrs. Hiers was born in Forrest City, Arkansas and was a graduate of Sullins College in Bristol, Virginia. She was a homemaker and formerly employed by the Georgia Bank and Macon Clean Community. Mrs. Hiers was a member of Vineville United Methodist Church, the Mack Anthony Sunday School Class, the Macon Service League and the Macon Garden Club. She was the daughter of the late George Plumer and Willie Sanders Wood and was preceded in death by her brother, G Wood.

Mrs. Hiers is survived by her husband, William Gooding Hiers of Macon; children, Kristin Hiers Howard (Bill Nettleton) of Macon, Lisa Hiers Ransom of Athens and Laurie Hiers Gillespie of Nova Scotia; grandchildren, Wesley David Howard, Greer Emily Ransom and Nathaniel Grey Gillespie.
