
MACON, GA - Bessie Dover Smith, 88, of Macon, died Saturday at her residence. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 5, 2011 at 11A.M. in the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Bobby Herron officiating. The family will greet friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to United Hospice, 6060 Lake Commons Drive, Macon, GA 31210.
Mrs. Smith was born in High Point, North Carolina and had lived in Macon most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Holmes Melton and the late Eunice Melton Treadway. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Sidney E. Dover, George "Buck" Miller and Douglas Fairbanks Smith and sister, Virginia Cochran. She was a member of Log Cabin Baptist Church and the Adult III Sunday School Class and the Ramblers Senior Adult Group. Mrs. Smith owned and operated Dover's Beauty Shop for over 40 years. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Hopkins of Macon; four grandchildren, Greg (Diane) Dover of Lilburn, Dr. Kevin (Dr. Caron) Dover of Greensboro, NC, Sydney (Chad) Hester of Gray, and Julie (Scott) Stephens of Wrightsville; seven great grandchildren, Taylor Stephens, Emily Dover, Isabel Dover, Anna Dover, Abby Stephens, Andrew Dover, and Austin Hester.
