Mr. Bruner was born in Macon to Joseph and Juanita Bruner on December 14, 1933. He went to high school at Lanier High School and graduated in 1951. As a young man, Mr. Bruner enjoyed sports including football, boxing, and especially baseball. In fact, he played catcher for a minor league team (Chicago Cubs) based in Macon. It was during this time that the young Mr Bruner met and fell in love with his future bride, Beverly Bloodworth.
An avid musician and talented trumpet player, Mr. Bruner enjoyed playing music throughout Georgia and north Florida.
Later, he worked in the automobile industry in Macon and is best known for his more than 32 years as the parts manager for Jackson Oldsmobile until his retirement in the early 1990s.
He was involved in Sunday School teacher at Cherokee Heights Baptist Church and later at Vineville Baptist Church. In his spare time and into his retirement, Mr. Bruner enjoyed woodworking, making ornate clocks, studying history, and discussing his German heritage.
Of all his accomplishments in his life, Mr. Bruner was most proud of his two children, Lisa and Guerry. With Lisa, he said, he got his dainty little sweet girl, and with Guerry, he got his dig-in-the-dirt, hurl a baseball little boy. He continuously spoke of his intense pride in Lisa's gentle spirit as she teaches little children and in Guerry's leadership as evidenced in his years as an ROTC officer and recently as a leader in business.
Mr. Bruner is preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Bloodworth Bruner and his parents.
Mr. Bruner is survived by: his daughter, Lisa B. Evans (Greg), of Macon; his son, S. Guerry Bruner (Tonya), of Jasper, Georgia; three grandchildren, Jeremy D. Evans (Erin) of Covingon, Joshua D. Evans (fiance Colleen Ballinger) of Los Angeles, and Erin E. Pitts (Christopher) of Atlanta; and two great-grandchildren, Lorelei Rosemarie Evans and Landon Jeremy Evans of Covington.
