

Blanche Willis Westmoreland, 87, passed away Sunday, September 04, 2016. A Celebration of her Life will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday at Vineville Baptist Church. Burial will be private for family only in Riverside Cemetery. Dr. Richard Kremer will officiate. The family will greet friends from 4:30 until 6:30 PM Wednesday following the service in “The Grande” at Carlyle Place. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Vineville Baptist Church, 2591 Vineville Avenue, Macon 31204.
Mrs. Westmoreland was born in Dublin, Georgia September 22, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Mary Walden Willis and George Martin Willis and was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Eliotte Westmoreland, her son, Martin Willis Westmoreland, and her brother-in-law, Herman Logan Westmoreland. Mrs. Westmoreland was the 1945 valedictorian of Dublin High School and attended Mars Hills Junior College in North Carolina. She graduated from Mercer summa cum laude in 1949 and received her master’s in 1951.
Mrs. Westmoreland was a long time member of Vineville Baptist Church. She was past president of the Morning Music Club and for many years was a member of the Hill and Dale Garden Club and the Table Top Bridge Club. Mrs. Westmoreland was also the first state president of the Georgia Jaycettes.
Mrs. Westmoreland is survived by her children, Carl Eliotte Westmoreland (Marie) of Atlanta, Beth Westmoreland Jensen of Atlanta; Susan Westmoreland Dann of Macon; grandchildren, Carl Westmoreland, III, Mary Westmoreland Feilen (Tim), Logan Westmoreland Mulling (Chuck), Kohler Jensen Sartain (William), Richard Jensen, Hope Jensen, Suzanna Dann Whitehead (Nick), Rosemary Dann, Celia Dann; great-grandchildren, Adelyn Rose Grant, Eliotte Marie Feilen, William Franklin Sartain, IV.
