Ken Walker passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021 at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. The family will receive friends at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono on Wednesday, January 6th from 11:00 a.m. until service time. The Celebration of Life will begin at 12 noon at Snow’s Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jack Osburn and Rev. Tony Crosby officiating. Interment will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Due to COVID-19, all attendees are required to wear mask and adhere to social distancing.
Mr. Walker was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee and was the son of the late Charlie and Marie Walker. He was a faithful member of Liberty United Methodist Church and Spares and Pairs Sunday School Class. He was a Sunday School teacher for many years; teaching various age groups from youth to older members. Over the years, he served in many capacities within the church such as Lay Leader, Church Council member, and evangelism support. Before joining Liberty, he was an active member at Bloomfield UMC serving in various positions.
Mr. Walker was an avid golfer and played regularly with his friends. His most treasured times out on the golf course was spent with his son, Keith and grandsons, Josh and Zack. He enjoyed his trips to the beach over the years, especially with his daughters, Kim and Kellie, and granddaughters, Lacey, Kayla, Haley, and Allie.
After retiring from Robins AFB as an Industrial Engineer, he volunteered his time with the Upward Program sponsored by Liberty UMC. He was proud of the patriotism that the program promoted.
Mr. Walker loved college football, especially his favorite team, the Tennessee Volunteers.
Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Becky Walker and his son, Keith Walker. He is survived by his daughters, Kim W. (Michael) Harnage of Warner Robins and Kellie W. (Brian) Bethea of Woodstock; daughter-in-law, Lecia G. Walker of Cody, Wyoming; grandchildren, Josh Walker, Zack Walker, Lacey H. Banks, Kayla Harnage, Haley Bethea, and Allie Banks.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation, or the Methodist Children’s Home.
