

Donald W. Williams, age 90, of Eatonton, Georgia, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024. Donald was born in New Vienna, Ohio to Harry Dana Williams and Kathryn Sanders Williams. He graduated from Wilmington High School in May of 1951 and attended Purdue University in 1955 graduating with a BS Degree in Agriculture and Animal Husbandry. While attending Purdue, he made a Spring Break trip to Bradenton, Florida where he met his future bride, Barbara Keene. In 1956, he was in the Reserve of the U.S. Navy as Lieutenant Junior Grade and ended his tour of duty in 1958. In November of 1959, he and Barbara were married in Bradenton, FL and they began married life in Frankfort, Ohio, where he was the working farm manager and operator of a 460-acre farm which included advertising and merchandising purebred Polled Hereford cattle. A few years later he changed careers and went back to school in 1966 at Ohio State University to become a veterinarian and was licensed as such in September of 1970. He started practicing Veterinarian Medicine when he moved the family to Bradenton, Florida, Barbara’s hometown. He started his career in a group practice, Bayshore Animal Hospital and later built his own practice called “Twin Oaks Veterinary Clinic. He retired to Eatonton, Ga around 2013.
Donald was of the Baptist Faith and served many years in his churches using his gifts of administration and service. He was a wonderful example of living for Christ to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Donald and Barbara went on to have five children, Kathryn “Colleen” Williams Pope (Herman H Pope, “Buddy” – deceased), Dwayne Williams (deceased), Dawn Williams Johnson (Deceased), Kyle Williams (Tammy Jett Williams), Mark Williams (Jennifer Groome Williams). They have 10 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 17th at Lakeside Church of Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Georgia, from 3-5 pm. (Visitation 3-4 PM, Memorial Service 4-5 PM) Any flowers will be accepted but need to be delivered to the church sometime after Noon on Saturday, February 17th.
