Don was born on May 5, 1959, in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Donald Clark Wright Sr. and Edna Earle Wright. Don is survived by his children, Amanda Wright Jones (Casey), Lauren Wright Cranshaw (Tyler), and Donald Clark Wright, III; grandchildren, Waylon Matthew Cranshaw and Weston Layne Cranshaw; mother, Edna Earle Wright; twin sister, Teresa Cooper Carroll (Glenn); sister, Kay Elise Blalock (Jack Moore); several nieces and nephews, and two great-nieces.
Don was an incredible man who made lasting impacts to not only those who knew him, but helped build pillars that shape our community. Don spent 40 years of his life as a commerical construction superintendent. Some of his primary projects were Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Emory University, Georgia College and State University, multiple local Georgia county court houses, municipal buildings, and many schools both statewide and in the Southeast. There were many times in just normal conversation where a place would be mentioned and he could tell you the exact dimensions of the piping that was used when he helped construct it. Don was smart. Don was direct in his speaking. He didn’t sugar coat most topics because he could assess and process tasks unlike most people. Some of these skills were probably innate; however, others he probably acquired while serving in the United States Army. Don was proud of his country and proud of being a veteran. He always wanted things done the right way. Fitting for his last name. Don loved his family most of all. He always wanted everyone to strive to be the best version of themselves and to not hold back.
Don retired a couple years ago from the Allstate Construction Company as their lead superintendent. Don loved fishing (especially offshore), cooking, reading, and woodworking. He was known for his intelligence and his quick-witted humor that could make if even the hardest individuals crack a smirk. Don will be missed greatly by his family and friends and by anyone who had the pleasure of being around him.
Snow's Memorial Chapel, Bass Road, Macon, has charge of arrangements.
