Druid Norris Preston

Druid Norris Preston, 93, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2024. A Celebration of his Life will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Snow’s, Bass Road with Rev. Dr. Baxter Hurley officiating. The family will greet friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Main Gate. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Forest Hill Church, 1217 Forest Hill Road, Macon, Georgia 31210 or to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon, Georgia 31210.

Druid was born in Buena Vista, Georgia to the late Abb W. and Ouida Phillips Preston and was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Russell Preston. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia and was one of the founding members of the Bulldog Club. Druid was also a member of the University of Georgia President’s Club, Georgia Forestry Association, Society of American Foresters, Forest Hills Church and the Seekers Sunday School class. He retired with the State of Georgia after 30 years as the Chief of Forest Management with the Georgia Forestry Commission. He then started his own business, Preston Forestry Services and retired from there after 25 years. He was drafted into the United States Army his senior year at the University of Georgia, and returned to complete his education after two years of service to his country. Druid was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carol Adams Preston of Macon; two sons, Dru Preston (Natalie) of Perry, Alan (Margaret) Preston of Macon; two grandchildren, Emma Preston and Brady Preston both of Perry; faithful dog, Lucky; sister, Betty Wells of Ellaville; brother, Abb Preston of Newnan; brother-in-law, Davis Adams (Sylvia) of John’s Creek; and numerous nieces and nephews.
