GRAY – Elaine Wood Mathews, 66, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2012 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Northridge Baptist Church with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 PM Friday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Northridge Baptist Church, Building Fund, 2360 Gray Highway, Macon 31211.
Mrs. Mathews was born in Sandersville, Georgia and was the daughter of the late Charles Clifford Wood and Ruby Helen Young Wood. She was retired from Geico Insurance Company and was a member of Northridge Baptist Church.
Mrs. Mathews is survived by her husband, Steve Mathews, Sr. of Gray; son, Scott Mathews (Shellie) of Macon; sister, Priscilla Palmer (Calvin) of Macon; step-sons, Steve Mathews, Jr. (Amy) of Byron, Chris Mathews and Mike Mathews both of Dallas, Georgia; eight step-grandchildren; two nephews and a niece.
