

Dr. Ernest Clinton Sheehan, 97, passed away Friday afternoon, September 14, 2012 at his residence at Carlyle Place. A celebration of his life will be held at 1p.m., Monday at Ingleside Baptist Church with Dr. Timothy McCoy and the Reverend Ron Gaynor officiating. Burial will be private in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will meet friends following the service at Ingleside and asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Ingleside Baptist Church, 834 Wimbish Road, Macon GA 31210 or Source of Light Mission, 11011 Mission Road, Madison, GA 30650 or Haggai Institute, P. O. Box 13, Atlanta, GA 30370.
Dr. Sheehan, one of seven children (six boys and one girl), was born in Eufaula, AL to the late William Ernest Sheehan and Cynthia Elizabeth McGehee Sheehan. He met and married Louise Margaret Kirby when she was seventeen years old and they were married for more than seventy years.
Dr. Sheehan was a graduate of Mercer University and New Orleans Baptist
Seminary. He received an honorary Doctorate degree from Tennessee Temple University. He was ordained to the gospel ministry in 1936 and served as pastor to churches in Louisiana, Georgia, Texas and North Carolina. Dr. Sheehan served Mikado Baptist Church in Macon for seventeen years. He was a long time member of Ingleside Baptist Church where he served as Interim Pastor and following that, as Pastor Emeritus until his death. Dr. Sheehan was instrumental in establishing Source of Light Mission, Madison, GA, and the Macon Rescue Mission.
Survivors include his brother, James Creyon (Elizabeth) Sheehan of Lake Wales, FL; his sister, Mary Elizabeth (Bob) Roser of Rossville, GA; his daughter, Jackie S. (Ron) Gaynor of Tucker; his son, Kirby Sheehan of Macon; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.
