

Frances “Sassy” Welch Coleman, 83, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2016. A Celebration of her Life will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at Forest Hills United Methodist Church. Burial will be at 3:00 PM in the Telfair Memorial Gardens Cemetery in McRae, Georgia. Rev. Baxter Hurley and Rev. Teresa Edwards will officiate. The family will greet friends from 5 until 7 PM Wednesday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street, and asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Forest Hills United Methodist Church, 1217 Forest Hill Road, Macon 31210. Members of the Grace Bible Class are asked to sit together as a group at the funeral service.
Mrs. Coleman was born in Thomasville, Georgia the daughter of the late Belle Hughes Welch and Chappell Welch. She was retired from the Georgia Farm Bureau and was very active in various clubs and organizations. She was a member of Forest Hills United Methodist Church, the Grace Bible Class and the Georgia Power Ambassadors.
Mrs. Coleman is survived by her son, Jim Coleman of Newnan, Georgia; daughter, Judy Coleman Ireland (John) of Lake Martin, Alabama; grandchildren, Chappell Coleman Jackson (Morgan), John R. Ireland, Jr. (Stephanie), Kitty Kidd (Gavin), Lesley Ireland; great-grandchildren, Miles Kidd, Leland Kidd, and Gabriel Kidd; sister, Margaret Sanders; nephew, Mike Garrett (Karen); niece, Diane McKenney.
