A Memorial Service will be held in the chapel of Ingleside Baptist Church on Monday, January 8 at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Mark Hudgins officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. Burial will be private in Riverside Cemetery. The family requests no flowers, but appreciate donations in Jimmy’s memory to Ingleside Baptist Church, 834 Wimbish Road, 31210 or St. Jude's Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Jimmy was born in Miami, Florida on August 28, 1926 to Marguerite and Tally Monroe Faulkner. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 57 years, Jackie Wolfe Faulkner, his parents, a sister, Betty Faulkner Jenkins, and a grandson, Robbie Tillman.
Jimmy lived in Columbus, Georgia during his formative years and attended Jordan High School. He briefly attended North Georgia College before entering the Navy in 1944. After the war he moved to Macon to join his family, and enrolled in Mercer University where he met his future wife, Jackie Wolfe. Jimmy lettered in track, was initiated into the Kappa Sigma fraternity and graduated in 1948.
Jimmy began his civilian career at Warner Robins Air Force Base in 1954 and advanced quickly as a logistics specialist for bomber aircraft, including the B-52 and his pride and joy, the F-15. He was one of seven WRAMA personnel selected as the nucleous of the new F-15 Systems Management Division, and served as Chief of the F-15 SM Program during the time when it was growing from infancy into a recognized division. Jimmy retired from Civil Service in 1984 and became an independent contractor representing a number of defense contractors for jobs at RAFB.
Jimmy and Jackie were very involved in raising their three children, taking long family vacations across the country, including one World's Fair, and participating in church activities and Boy and Girl Scouts. They were also very involved in the lives of their seven grandchildren and made certain they all spent time together regardless of the miles apart they lived. Jimmy enjoyed attending the annual reunion of Jackie's huge family, and became a primary patriarch even though he was an "outlaw". Jimmy enjoyed golf and lake life before age and dementia set in. He loved to entertain the children in the family by wiggling his ears, playing outside, making green eggs and pancakes, telling stories of his career and his youth (including the one about being chased by a lion) and going on boat rides.
Jimmy and Jackie were long time members of Ingleside Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, and chairman of several committees in addition to all phases of Youth activities. Jimmy was a man of great faith and the family is comforted knowing he is with our Lord. He was a member of the Brotherhood Sunday School Class. Jimmy was also committed to the Exchange Club for many years, having served on the Board of Directors and the Fair committee.
He is survived by his children, Bobby (Lynn) Faulkner of Macon, Stan (Janet) Faulkner of Jacksonville, FL, and Debbie F. Tillman (Bob) of Atlanta. He is also survived by his adoring grandchildren: Kelley Faulkner, Lauren Faulkner, Ashley (Tyler) Wojciechowski, Ben (Lauren) Tillman, Jennifer (Matt) Reedy, and Jimmy Faulkner, II; brother Wallace (Mary Lou) Faulkner of Woodstock, GA and sister, Helen Faulkner of Melbourne, FL. He also leaves behind five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
