

MACON – Jean Mohead Dunlap, 87, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2011. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Alta Vista Cemetery in Gainesville, Georgia. Dr. C. Walton Gaddy will officiate. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Andy Anderson Institute, P O Box 250, Macon, GA 31202.
Mrs. Dunlap was born in Vance, Mississippi, raised on Texas Island Plantation – Cohomah County, Mississippi then lived in Gainesville for 60 years, before moving to Macon five years ago. She was the widow of Samuel Riley Dunlap, Sr. and the daughter of the late Guy Telford Mohead and Helen Neill Mohead. Mrs. Dunlap attended Ward Belmont in Nashville, Tennessee and graduated from Brenau College, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gainesville. Mrs. Dunlap gave much of her time to the community by serving in the Junior Service League of Gainesville and was an avid bridge player and loved to needle point.
Mrs. Dunlap is survived by her children, Samuel Riley (Charlotte) Dunlap, Jr. of Savannah, Guy Mohead (Wendy) Dunlap of Marietta, Helen Dunlap Anderson (John Paul) Gaddy of Macon; grandchildren, Samuel Riley (Ryan Smith) Dunlap, III, Ginna Dunlap (Patrick) Emmet, Emily Tindal Anderson, Margaret Corinne Anderson, Virginia Riley Anderson; great-grandchildren, Corinne Louise Dunlap and Samuel Candler Dunlap, II; brother, John Joseph Mohead, Sr. of Lula, MS; numerous nieces & nephews.
