John Pierce Chapman, age 96, of Macon, GA, passed away January 3, 2022. He was born December 4, 1925 to Pierce and Lillie Bell Chapman of Crawford County, GA. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Snow’s Memorial Chapel-Pio Nono Ave. from 5:30 until 7:00 pm. A family graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery at 2:00 pm with Reverend Bobby Hamlin officiating.
Mr. Chapman was an Army veteran of World War II. He became a mechanic and worked for Dunlap Chevrolet for many years before establishing John Chapman Transmission along with his son, Edward. He was very well known in the Macon area for his good work and honest business habits. He was a member of Mable White Baptist Church where he attended J.C. Johnson Sunday School Class.
Mr. Chapman is survived by his wife, Gerry of Macon; daughter, Mary Alice Dennard of Eatonton; son, Edward Chapman (Dale) of Lizella; grandchildren, Jolynn Churchwell, Janey Smith, Christy Steverson, Kensley Brown, Connie Hamrick, Cindy Rumney, Erin Green, and Elise Green along with many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; his brothers, Quinton Chapman of Macon, Lewis Chapman of Warner Robins, and Larry Chapman (Judy) of Gordon. He loved his family and loved for all to visit.
Mr. Chapman was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mary; his wife, Jerry; daughter, Gloria Green; granddaughter, Mary Lucille Green; brother, Rev. Frank Chapman; and sisters, Lucy Torbert and Veta Hamlin.
The family will accept flowers or make contributions to Southeastern Holiness Camp c/o Reverend Bobby Hamlin, 1880 Hamlin Rd., Lizella, GA. 31052.
