

Loyd Tillman James, Sr., 72, joined His Heavenly Father on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 surrounded by his family at their home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday at New Elim Baptist Church with burial in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. The Rev. Johnny McGowan and the Rev. Johnny Baggett will officiate. The family will meet friends from 7 - 9 p-.m., Friday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue.
Mr. James was born in Chatsworth, GA the son of the late Emmitt and Vina Mealer James and served with the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a member of New Elim Baptist Church and was a firefighter retired from Macon-Bibb County Fire Department after thirty years’ service. Mr. James loved all things outdoors and was a devoted sportsman and an avid runner. He was enthusiastically involved in his children’s and grandchildren’s sports serving as a coach for their teams and was always their number one cheerleader and encourager.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he is survived by the family he adored, his wife of fifty-two years, Patricia Ann Morgan James; his son, Tim (Angie) James; his daughter, Vickie (Glenn) Bledsoe; his beloved grandchildren, Brooks (Kym), Brad (Lacie), Bridgett, Brent and Broc James, Brett, Brittney and Bryan Bledsoe; his precious great grandchildren, Kinsley and Case; two brothers and six sisters.
