
MACON, GA – Mary Files Redmon, 81, passed away Friday, October 29, 2010. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 6, 2010 at the St. James Lutheran Church in Brunswick, Georgia. A second memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 13, 2010 at the Big Creek Baptist Church in Hazard, Kentucky. The family will greet friends following the memorial services in the Fellowship Hall of the church.
Mrs. Redmon was born in Hazard, Kentucky and was a retired registered nurse of 40 years, having worked in the Miners Memorial Hospital in Hazard, KY and the S. E. Georgia Regional Medical Center in Brunswick, Georgia. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, serving as Chapter Regent for 8 years in Brunswick and was a member of the St. James Lutheran Women’s Guild for over 30 years. She was the widow of Fred R. Files and Russell Redmon and was the daughter of the late Robert L. and Cora Baker Fields. She was preceded in death by her son, Ron Cramer Files and her siblings, Arlie Fields and Verda Fields. Mrs. Redmon was active within her community and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt.
Mrs. Redmon is survived by her children, James (Denise) Files of Poca, West Virginia, Fred T. (Connie) Files of Blythe Island, GA, Susan (Scott) Files Whisler of Hiram, GA, Scott Files of St. Simons Island, GA, Holly (Asa Magnusson) Files of Macon; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Troy Fields, Holly Fields Collins, Ruth Fields Plock, Theodore Fields and Dwight L. Fields; fourteen nieces and nephews.
