

Michael A. Deep, Sr., 91, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, May 9, 2016. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 13 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Vernon Knight officiating. A Vigil Service will be held on Thursday, at 6 p.m. at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street. Burial will be at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Mike was born on August 27, 1924 in Macon to Lebanese immigrants, John Kahaliel and Mary Tabet Deep. He was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and a graduate of St. Joseph School and Lanier High School. Mike was a veteran of World War II having served with the Fifth Infantry Division in England, North Ireland, and France. He was injured in combat during the invasion of Normandy, France, in 1944.
Mike obtained a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Walter F. George School of Law, Mercer University, and was admitted to the practice of Law before the Georgia Supreme Court, Georgia Court of Appeals, and Superior Courts. He was also admitted to the Bar of the United States Supreme Court, U.S. Fifth and Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and U.S. District Court of the Middle District of Georgia.
Mike was employed as an attorney in the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, WRALC, Robins Air Force Base, from September 1952 – December 1987. He was nominated for Air Force service awards in 1977 and 1981, and AFLC award as middle manager for 1972.
Mike was a member of the American Legion Post 3, Knights of Columbus Council 925, and Chapter 2142 NARFE. He was a member of the Moose Club, Grand Jurors Association, and served many years on the ARC Board of Directors.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 68 years, Thelma B. Deep; sons, Michael A. Deep, Jr. and Timothy B. Deep (Patti), grandsons, T. J. Deep and John Michael Deep; brother, Johnny Deep; sisters, Amelia White and Sadie Union; and several nieces and nephews.
