

MACON – Mildred A. Carter, 86, passed away Friday, July 9, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at Avondale Baptist Church with burial in Park Hill Cemetery in Columbus, GA at 3:00 PM. Rev. Marty Watson will officiate. The family will greet friends from 3:00 until 5:00 PM Sunday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue. Those who wish may make donations to Avondale Baptist Church, 6970 Cochran Field Road, Macon 31216.
Mrs. Carter was born in Riverview, Alabama and had lived in Macon for most of her life. She was retired from Kennedy Drugs and was a member of Avondale Baptist Church, being a strong Christian Lady to her faith and fellows. Mrs. Carter was the daughter of the late William A. and Ruth Rice Ledford and the widow of Milo Carter. She was also preceded in death by her sons, Wayne Carter and Donnie Carter; sisters, Betty Weldon, Billie Lucas, Evelyn Jones; brothers, Buck Ledford and William Ledford.
Mrs. Carter is survived by her children, Ruth (Greg) Dominy of Grayson, GA, Roy Carter of Savannah, Daniel Carter of Toomsboro, GA, Charles (Chris) Carter of Macon; sister, Frances Tartaglio of Bridgeport, CT; brother, Bobby Ledford of Valley, AL; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild.
