

MACON – Myrtice Chance Raffield, 91, entered into Glory on Sunday, July 10, 2011. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday at Tattnall Square Baptist Church with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Stephen N. Johnson and the Rev. Perry Porter will officiate. The family will meet friends from 5 – 7 p.m., Tuesday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue. They suggest that those who wish, make memorial contributions to Tattnall Square Baptist Church, 4925 Zebulon Road, Macon, GA 31210 or to the Alzheimer’s Association Central Georgia Chapter, Suite 201, 277 MLK, Jr. Blvd., Macon, GA 31201.
Mrs. Raffield, wife of the late James Warren Raffield, was the daughter of the late Joshua and Amanda Howell Chance. She and her husband founded Raffield Tire Master where she served as Treasurer/bookkeeper from 1963 – 1985. Mrs. Raffield was formerly a member of Elim Baptist Church and Mabel White Memorial Baptist Church where she was active in WMU, Director of Vacation Bible School and taught Sunday School. She was most recently a member of Tattnall Square Baptist Church where she was a member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class. She was truly a “Southern Lady” who enjoyed traveling and southern cooking, sharing meals with her family and friends. She always considered it an honor to serve her Lord by serving others. Mrs. Raffield was preceded in death by her granddaughters, Beth Battle and Suzanne Raffield, by her brothers, Bill Chance and Rachel Chance and by her sister, Elizabeth Nabers.
Mrs. Raffield was devoted to her family who survive her, her daughter, Colista R. (Eddie) Battle of Macon; her sons, John W. “Bill” (Paula) Raffield and Samuel J. (Judy) Raffield, all of Macon; eight grandchildren, Chip (Emily) Battle, Chris (Brenda) Battle, Melissa (Chris) Lindh, Jennifer Raffield, Rebecca Raffield, Christi Raffield, Staci (Simon) Hill and Joseph (Rebekah) Raffield; twelve great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
