Ms. Avery was born in Macon, the daughter of Walter Walker and Hilda Williams Avery. She was a graduate of Miller High School and was retired from Bell South Yellow Pages where she was the recipient of the Bell South Yellow Pages President’s Award for 8 years. Ms. Avery is the former owner of Ruth and Idgies in Juliette. She was a member of Mable White Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include 1 daughter, Cindy Sams (Macon); 1 son, Robert Hunnicutt (Macon); 4 grandchildren, Stephanie Gay, Robyn Lane, Bobbi Jones, Bonnie Sams; and 1 brother, Wayne Avery (Byron).
