Russell Barry West, 71, passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at his home due to complications from surgery in 2016. A Celebration of his life will be held on Monday, May 7 at 2 p.m. at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street with Rev. Jeff Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, North Gate. Russell was born in Macon to the late Richard Harry and Katherine Lloyd West. He was a graduate of Lanier High School and Georgia College. Russell was a member of the LTB Fraternity. He was the owner/operator of Dixie Military Sales & Associates. Russell loved working on cars, playing golf, riding Harleys, and Bike Week in Daytona. He always stopped to pick up stray dogs and kittens and stopped traffic in Forsyth to pick up a kitten. Russell was of the Methodist faith.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 49 years, Judy Simmons West; brother, Steve (Lynn) West of Athens; nephews; Stephen West Jr., Matthew West, and Spencer Simmons; nieces, Elizabeth West Duffey of Hendersonville, NC and Hannah Simmons; brother-in-law, Dink (Janie) Simmons; and five great nieces and nephews.
