KNOXVILLE, GA (Crawford County) – Sarah Jane Fortenberry Blume, 65, surrounded by her family at home, entered her Heavenly Home on Tuesday, March 20, 2012. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono with burial in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Pastor Jerry Gardner and Mr. Roy Thompson will officiate. The family will meet friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. They ask that in lieu of flowers and in accordance with Sarah’s wishes, memorial contributions be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 1160 Forsyth Street, Macon 31201.
Mrs. Blume, daughter of the late Robert Lee Fortenberry and Sarah Reynolds Fortenberry, was born in Atlanta and lived most of her life here in the Middle Georgia area. She had earned her Associate’s Degree from Macon State College and was an insurance adjuster prior to her retirement. Mrs. Blume was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Bennie Joe Fortenberry , James Ledford and William Ledford. Sarah was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include those she loved most, her husband, Billy Joe Blume of Knoxville; daughters, Hope (Seth) Styons of Roberta and Jo (Chris) Newbern of Macon; sons, Richard (Jodie) Blume of Sharpsburg and Walter (Teri) Blume of Macon; her grandchildren, Joshua Blume, Justin Blume, Samuel Styons and Emma Newbern; her cousin, Lamar Warren of Mississippi and several nieces and nephews.
