

MACON – Sarah Woodruff Simmons, 91, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at a local hospital. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Mason officiating. The family will meet friends from 5 – 7 p.m., Friday at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. They suggest that those who wish make memorial contributions to All About Animals, 101 Riverside Drive, Macon, GA 31204.
Ms. Simmons, daughter of the late William Alfred Woodruff and Kate Rye Woodruff, was born in Porterdale and attended Wesleyan College. Living in Macon most of her life, she was a member of Mulberry Street United Methodist Church and was a volunteer with United Cerebral Palsy of Georgia. Ms. Simmons was a devoted homemaker.
Her memory will be cherished by her family, her children, Judy Simmons (Russell) West and Philip “Dink” E. (Janie) Simmons, all of Macon; her beloved grandchildren, Hannah Simmons and Spencer Simmons; nieces and nephews, including Nancy Canipelli Little, Vince Canipelli and Woody Woodruff; and her kitties, Mike and Andy.
