

Shelby Harper Barbee, 74, died July 8, 2017 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 2:00pm at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Rev. Jimmy Woods and Rev. Robert Webb will officiate. The family will greet friends from 1:00pm until service time at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 804 Cherry Street, Macon, 31201.
Mrs. Barbee was born in Macon, Georgia to the late Silas Leon Harper and Lois Edna Schaffer Harper. She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Leon Barbee, Sr.; son, Franklin Leon Barbee, Jr.; and sisters, Shirley Ann Tollison and Ruby Juanita Ballard. Mrs. Barbee was retired from Triangle Chemical and was very active at Southside Baptist Church through their choir, and as a Lawanna Leader and Sunday school teacher. She was currently a member of Calvary Community Chapel.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Hope Barbee; grandson, Lee (Cassandra) Barbee of Maryland; granddaughters, Rosie Barbee and Greye Lovin, both of Macon; great granddaughters, Natalie Renee’ Barbee and Kendra “KK” Irene Burnette; sisters, Beverly June Pettis and Wanda Ruth “Cookie” Pelt; brother, Alfred Ray Harper; and lots of nieces and nephews.
