

“Tall Paul” passed away at his home on October 2, 2017. A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday at Liberty United Methodist Church with burial in Liberty United Methodist Church Cemetery. Dr. A. Melton Strozier, Jr. and the Rev. Wayne Anthony will officiate. The family will meet friends from 12 Noon to service time on Thursday at the church. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Liberty United Methodist Church Building Fund, 6511 Houston Road, Macon, GA 31216 or to Heartland Hospice, 3312 Northside Square, Macon, GA 31210.
Tall Paul was born in Taylor County and moved to Macon in 1948 to attend BTI Business School. Tall Paul began reading meters for Atlanta Gas Light Company and eventually moved into sales. He served with Company D, 121st Infantry 48th Division of Georgia National Guard.
Tall Paul opened International Awning Company on Houston Avenue in 1959 selling awnings and carports. He moved his business to Pio Nono Avenue in 1963 and eventually started selling truck toppers. His business expanded to motor homes and travel trailers and he began doing business as Tall Paul’s Campers. Tall Paul was a member of Forest Hills United Methodist Church.
Tall Paul is preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Elaine Tidwell Freeman and sisters, Eloise NeSmith, Mildred Rustin and brothers, Eugene Freeman, Philip Freeman and Billy Freeman.
His memory will forever be treasured by his loving sons, Eddie Freeman (Lisa) and Mark Freeman; brothers, Sydney Freeman (Nan) and Bobby Freeman (Barbara); his sister, Wilma Thurlow; his grandsons, Ed, Nick and Matt Freeman; numerous nieces and nephews and his most precious grand dog, “Lucky.”
