Vivian Leaf Benshoff

Vivian was born on December 18, 1936, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to the late Edward C. Leaf and Estella M. Ross. She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her husband of 60 years, Dr. Albert M. Benshoff of Macon, and her brother, Ronald E. Leaf of Cumberland, Maryland. She was a graduate of Ferndale High School and Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She subsequently received her master’s in education from that institution.

Vivian was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and teacher. She was a former member of the Westmont United Presbyterian Church. An avid bridge player, she was a member of the Macon Duplicate Bridge Club and achieved the rank of Life Master. She also enjoyed golfing, reading, and traveling.

Vivian treasured her family and was devoted to her children. Over the years, she shared her home with many canine “children” as well. In her later years, she regularly dispensed treats to numerous visiting grand dogs, as well as many dogs in the neighborhood.

Vivian is survived by her daughter Ericha Benshoff of Macon, son, Harry Benshoff of Carrolton, Texas, and step- son, Albert Benshoff (Kristine) of Concord, North Carolina; granddaughter Taylor Moyer; step- grandchildren Matthew Benshoff (LeeMarie) and Laura Rifkin (Jake); step- great grandchildren Arthur and Maurice Benshoff. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family is extremely grateful to Vivian’s friend and caregiver Cherie Holliman for the loving care and kindness she provided. We appreciated the expertise and kindness extended by Dr. Collier Gladin and his staff. She received excellent care as a resident of Stafford Suites at Carlyle Place. We are thankful for the staff that cared for her there, as well as the staff that cared for her at Pine Pointe Hospice in her final days.
