

Captain Wayne Avery, 68, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2015. A Celebration of his Life will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue. Burial will be private. Dr. Laudis H. “Rick” Lanford will officiate. The family will have a visitation/reception following the memorial service at Snow’s. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon 31210 or the Peace Officers Association of Georgia, W Main Street, Reidsville, GA 30453.
Captain Avery was born in Columbus, Georgia the son of the late Hilda Lucile Williams Avery and Walter Walker Avery. He was a United States Army veteran was also in the reserves. Captain Avery served with the Macon Police Department for 28 years. He was past president of the Peace Officers Association of Georgia and was a long standing member. After retiring from the Macon Police Department he opened his own Private Investigation Company.
Captain Avery is survived by his wife, Kim Avery of Byron; son, Michael Wayne Avery of Macon and his girlfriend, Jackie Sacco; daughter, Jennifer Leigh Holland (Andy) of Macon; grandchildren, Allison Avery, Drew Holland, Sophie Holland, and Myles Holland; In-laws, Darrel and Jo Ann Stephens of Macon.
