Wilma Jean Sams Hensley, 81, was welcomed into eternal life with the Lord on Friday, July 9, 2021 her 81st birthday with family by her side. A Celebration of Her Life will be held on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Ave. Burial will be in Roberta City Cemetery with the Elder Dan Bryant officiating.
She was born in Roberta, Georgia to the late Joseph Alton and Lyda Beeland Sams. She was preceded in death by her husband of eighteen years, Fred Hensley as well as her brothers, Joseph Sams and Terry Sams and sisters, Betty Ryals and Marie Melton. Wilma was of the Primitive Baptist Faith. She was retired from Robins Air Force Base as a parts chaser for the C130 after twenty-eight years of service.
Wilma did not have biological children but had nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews that she considered her own. After her retirement, Wilma loved to travel with her close friend/brother Morgan and spending time with family. Wilma loved being outside and was very active in her retirement life. Wilma survived kidney cancer in 2004 but did not let it slow her down. She was a very strong and caring woman and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
She is survived by her brothers, Morgan Sams and Lynn Sams, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
