Anthony Joseph Lanni Sr.

Anthony J. Lanni Sr., 89, beloved husband of Rita (Santanastocio) Lanni of Guilford, passed away peacefully on Sunday November 19, 2017 at Apple Rehab in Guilford surrounded by his family. Born on October 26, 1928 in Pawtucket, RI, he was the son of the late Thomas and Theresa (Santamauro) Lanni. Anthony served with pride and honor in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a business entrepreneur for over 45 years as an automotive mechanic. He was a sales manager with Sears & Roebuck Automotive department for many years before branching out and starting his own auto repair garage. He also started a first of its kind mobile auto repair service along with his own limousine business. He retired to Victorville CA with his wife and enjoyed many years of warm weather before returning to live with his daughter in Guilford, where he enjoyed trips to the community center in Guilford and always sat at ‘the rocks’. Besides his wife Rita of 67 years, he is survived by his three children, Donna Lanni of Pawtucket RI, Anthony J. Lanni Jr. and his wife Cherylynn of Grove City OH, Diane Canna and her husband Vincent of Guilford CT, grandchildren John and Jamie Buchanan and Kyle and Ryan Canna and his great grandchild Lila-Rae. The family would also like to thank the wonderful and caring staff at Apple Rehab who took care of Anthony and showed great compassion in the end. Services will be private. Swan Funeral Home of Clinton have been entrusted with the arrangements.
