

She was born on April 11, 1922 in New Haven, Ct. She was the daughter of James E. Wheeler
and Helen Carney. Carolyn is predeceased in death by her husband, James F. Malone, her
parents and her brother, James Wheeler
She is survived by her 7 children: Mary Malone (Bill Steer) of Madison, Ct, James F. Malone, Jr.
(Jean Miner) of Lyme, Ct, Mark Malone (Anne) of Greenwich, Ct, Christine Livadas (Alan) of
Wilmington, DE, Carol Farmer (Jeff) of Clinton, Ct, Timothy J. Malone of Deep River, Ct and
Martha Malone Reiss (Tim) of Avon, Ct. Carolyn is also survived by her sister-in-law, Mary L. Wheeler of Jupiter, FL, her nephew, Steven Wheeler of San Francisco, CA, many nieces, nephews, and her 14 grandchildren.
A graduate of East Haven High School (1940) and University of Connecticut (1944) she formed
many lifetime friendships. At her beloved college she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority and was honored to be Homecoming Queen Junior year.
She worked as an Advertising Director for Sears & Robuck where she met her husband, Jim.
They married and started their family in West Haven and then Woodmont, Ct. There they
made some longtime friends providing many happy memories for their family. In 1959 they moved to Madison, Ct. Where Carolyn was an active member at St. Margaret's Church and also was involved at Our Lady of Mercy Country Day where her all of her children attended.
She worked as a librarian at Scranton Memorial Library in Madison for many years. During this time she developed a love of quilting and helped to start the Library's Quilting Club. She maintained a lifelong passion for painting as well as playing tennis until the age of 80. Nature and
especially bird-watching brought her much joy throughout her life.
In their retirement she and Jim traveled in their RV around the USA, Canada and Mexico. They did this for over 8 years. They settled in Titusville, Fl in the winter with many of their "RV" friends and returned to Madison in the summers.
Her enthusiasm and love of life was evident as she filled each day. "Refreshing as Spring" was a
high school yearbook description of her which lasted a lifetime.
Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 pm on Friday, June 7th at the Swan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Post Rd., Madison, CT 06443. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Margaret's Catholic
Church, Madison, CT on Saturday, June 8th at 9:00 am Committal to follow at West Cemetery.
