Eleanor D. Bell

Eleanor D. Bell, age 84, of Madison, CT, and more recently living in Wallingford, CT (Masonicare/Ashlars Village), beloved wife of Sidney K. Bell, passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2012. Born in Staten Island, NY, she grew up in Mariners Harbor and graduated from Port Richmond High School. Eleanor Bell attended New York University and graduated with a degree in journalism. An avid cook and gardener, Eleanor loved all children and animals. She was adored by many and will be remembered by her friends and family for her spirited personality and character. She enjoyed swimming, being a previous member of TOPS (taking pounds off sensibly), and spending time with loved ones. A previous resident of Scotch Plains, NJ for 32 years, she raised 5 children and then moved to Madison, CT where she lived for 12 years. She was a loyal and dedicated wife to Sidney for 52 years, who predeceased her in 2007. Her parents William and Pauline and two sisters, Florence Kahn and Lillian Kearns also predeceased her. Surviving are her five children, Barbara Bell Hopkins, Susan Bell, Kathy Bell, Claudia Bell, and Carol Bell Corcoran: 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. The Swan Funeral Home of Madison is in charge of the arrangements. Viewing will be Wed., Aug 29th from 6pm - 8pm at Swan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Post Rd., Madison.
