

Esther E. Hopenwasser of York, Pa. formerly of Madison died on July 4th 2015 in York, Pa. Esther was born in Rockaway Beach, N.Y. the daughter of Fred and Elizabeth Rose. In December 2003, she lost her beloved husband Jack Hopenwasser. She and Jack had been residents of Madison since 1964. She continued to live in Madison and become very involved in the Madison Senior Center. She enjoyed the many activities and trips offered by the Madison Senior Center. She was seen at the Senior Center three times a week until she moved to Pa. For many years she was part of the ladies craft group at First Congregational Church of Madison and would help at the church fair. Esther is survived by her three children, son Fred Hopenwasser and wife Marilyn of Magnolia, TX, son, Ted Hopenwasser and wife Margaret, of Doylestown, PA., daughter, Holly Potter and husband Steven of York, Pa. Esther was adored and loved by her grandchildren, Chad Hopenwasser of New York City, Brian Hopenwasser and wife Christy of Skippack,Pa., Jay Hopenwasser and wife Carissa of Corinth, Texas, Brett Hopenwasser of Austin, Texas, Dawn Hopenwasser of Houston, Texas, Jeremy Potter and wife Meredith of Canton, Ct., Nathan Potter and wife Nikki of Spring Mills, Pa and seven great grandchildren. Esther Hopenwasser’s life will be celebrated on Friday July 10th at Swan Funeral Home 825 Boston Post Road Madison, Ct. Calling Hours will be 9:30 to 10:30, Service at 10:30 with burial following at West Cemetery.
