

John Albert Sadek, 90, of Madison, CT passed away peacefully on July 27, 2024 at Middlesex Hospital. John was born in Bridgewater, MA, son of the late Albert C. and Maida B. (Studley) Sadek. John was predeceased by Frances Helen (Nicholson) his loving wife of 62 years. He is survived by his son John A. Sadek, and his sons John, Daniel, Liam and Nicholas, his son James D. Sadek, his wife Annabel Macrae, and their sons Elliot and Henry.
John graduated from Northeastern University. Soon after college, and following a brief stint in the army, he began his career at Southern New England Telephone Company. John stayed with SNET his entire professional life retiring in 1996 as Vice President and Comptroller.
In retirement John and Fran traveled the world. A couple of their favorite tours included Australia and New Zealand, as well as Scotland, Wales and England. The UK tour was capped off attending the Wimbledon semi-finals. In his later years John became a professional grandfather dedicating much of his time and energy to following his six grandsons various passions and pursuits.
As a lover of tennis, in 2008, John co-founded an organization of recreational senior tennis players. The group originally consisted of 20 members. Under John’s leadership and guidance, the group, now known as “Shoreline Tennis Association”, steadily expanded to its current membership of over 100 players.
He was a good man. He believed deeply in the importance of family and community, which he reflected in his actions and deeds his entire life. He will be missed but not forgotten.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the entire staff at the medical center at Essex Meadows, as well as to the people at Weiss Family Comfort Care Unit, Middlesex Hospital. Their kindness, support, and care were immeasurable.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimers Association.
There will be no visiting hours.
