Born in Derby, CT on October 26, 1965, to Josephine (Cammarata) Coppola and the late Theodore Coppola, Joseph built a beautiful life in Madison, where he and his beloved wife of 35 years, Monica (Fernandes) Coppola, called home and raised their five children.
A dedicated attorney, Joseph earned his undergraduate degree from Sacred Heart University and his juris doctorate from the University of Bridgeport School of Law, going on to build a distinguished legal career; founding his own law firm, serving as Corporation Counsel for the cities of Derby and East Haven, and later joining Petra Construction in North Haven as In-House Counsel.
Yet it was outside the office where Joseph truly came alive. Whether cheering from the sidelines at his children's sporting events, cooking, or teeing off on the golf course, he embraced life with enthusiasm and warmth. He was a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan through and through, and took great pleasure in his daily walks alongside his devoted dog, Daisy.
His greatest joy in life was his family and spending time with them.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Monica; his children, Joseph T. Coppola II and his fiancée Shannon Scott, Nicholas Coppola, Jaden Coppola and his wife Samantha, Olivia Coppola, and Sophia Coppola; his mother, Josephine; and his two sisters, Theresa and Silvia Coppola.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Friends may greet the family at the Swan Funeral Home, 825 Bost Post Road, Madison on Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM. On Wednesday his procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 am for his Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Margaret Church, 24 Academy St., Madison. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Green Hill Road, Killingworth, CT.
