In 1951 she won a full scholarship to New York University, from what she graduated B.A. cum laude, with honors in English and Phi Beta Kappa. She also received her Master’s degree from NYU. She taught high school English for 12 years in New York City and Westchester County.
Serving as trustee on the Library Board of the Town of Greenberg, she was instrumental in construction of the new library in Town.
In Briarcliff Manor, NY she was the President of the high school, PTA and President of the Briarcliff Sports Boosters Club. She was briefly a trustee of the Village of Briarcliff Manor, and a member of Briarcliff Garden Club, and a member of the Choir at St. Teresa’s Church.
In 1983 she and her husband Frank, who had retired as vice- President and Associate General Counsel of Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in New York City, moved to Madison, CT to live a full-time in their home at the beach there. She sang for 30 plus years in the Choir of St. Margaret’s Church in Madison.
Her husband, Frank predeceased her. She leaves her son Bill Roegge and his wife, Diana of Branford, CT; stepson John Roegge of Pawling, NY, and his children; her grandson, Bill Roegge, and his wife, Flora of Manhattan and his mother Lilian Roegge of Madison, CT.
