After attending Most Precious Blood Grammar School and Trumbull High School, she continued her education at The Briarwood School. She then worked for The Danbury Mint, GTE Corporation, Comp-U-Card Company and numerous other companies. Maurette resided mainly in CT but spent time in Florida and Texas as well. She always challenged herself with new interests besides office work. She received a cosmetology certificate from Christine Valmy Beauty School in NYC, worked as a companion to dementia patients in FL, and also earned her CNA in CT where she continued to be a companion to the elderly, allowing herself the chance to show her kindness.
Maurette loved animals, flower gardening and music. Beatle cover band shows were a favorite. One of her most enjoyable pastimes was estate and tag sales; she had a knack for uncovering diamonds in the rough. She had wonderful taste and acquired beautiful treasures, most of which she gave away as gifts.
Her biggest smiles and happiness came from being surrounded by family and friends at parties and dinners, and there were many throughout her lifetime.
She was especially compassionate in caring for her mother in her later years. Everyone in the neighborhood was a friend to her as she walked daily and spoke with each and every one.
Maurette was predeceased by her parents, James and Lena Maher, and her brothers, James and Michael.
Maurette spent her last year in Madison, CT, living close to her family. She leaves behind her siblings Phyllis Tomlinson (Jack) and William Maher, and sister-in-law Diane Mitrisin-Maher. She also leaves behind nieces and nephews, Jamie Stubson (Geoff), Ryan Maher (Andrea), John Tomlinson, Kristen Jarema (Nicholas), Stephen Tomlinson and Patrick Maher. She loved them dearly as her own. Like a sister, she leaves behind her lifelong friend Maureen Tyliszczak (William), always part of her life journey.
Additionally, she will be missed by great nieces and nephews Gavin, Aubrey and Taylor Stubson, Olivia, Mason and Austin Maher, Eleanor Smith, Quinn and Luke Jarema.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, August 29th at 10:00 am at Christ the King Church, 4700 Madison Avenue, Trumbull, CT. A private service will be held later in the day at St. Michael’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, feel free to make a donation to your favorite charity in Maurette’s honor.
